Hauerwas and How to Write a Theological Sentence

I had the pleasure of chatting to the lovely Laurel Moffatt
after this lecture by Stanley Hauerwas on How to Write a Theological Sentence
the other evening. Her reflections are worth reading.

(And she has also given me a gift, and a diagnosis, in the
phrase l’esprit d’escalier. I loved this, from Wikipedia: “a sensitive man,
such as myself, overwhelmed by the argument levelled against him, becomes
confused and can only think clearly again [when he reaches] the bottom of the
stairs.” Yes. I too am a life-time sufferer, and this also is why I write.)
